Visiting Open Farms

  • Weather policy: Open Farms remains open in most weather conditions. After all, we are a working farm, and the animals still need to be fed, cared for, and tended to, rain or shine. Activities may be adjusted or canceled when severe weather creates unsafe conditions. When in doubt, please call us at 716-803-7484 before your visit.

  • Accessibility: Open Farms welcomes visitors of all abilities, and we want everyone to know what to expect before arriving. As a working farm, the property includes hills, uneven ground, grass, gravel, mud, and other natural terrain that may be difficult to navigate. Conditions can change depending on the weather and season. Visitors may also encounter farm equipment, fencing, and animals, some of which may be moving freely within designated areas. We encourage visitors who have mobility, sensory, or other accessibility needs to contact us before their visit. We will gladly discuss current conditions, available accommodations, and how we can help make the experience as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.   • Children and guests: All visitors, families, and guests are welcome at Open Farms. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult throughout their visit. Parents and supervising adults are responsible for helping children follow farm safety instructions and interact respectfully with the animals, property, staff, volunteers, and other visitors.

  • What to wear: Open Farms is a real working farm, so please dress for the experience. Wear comfortable clothing that can get dirty and sturdy, closed-toe shoes or boots with good traction. Avoid wearing your best shoes, delicate clothing, or anything you would be heartbroken to see decorated with mud. Depending on the weather and the day’s activities, visitors may leave with a little hay, dust, mud, animal hair, or even manure on their clothing. We consider that part of the authentic farm experience. During wet or cold weather, we recommend bringing waterproof footwear, layers, and a change of shoes or clothing for the trip home.
